Employee engagement in essential to organizations in every industry. An engaged employee is defined as one who is fully absorbed by and enthusiastic about their work and so takes positive action to further the organization's interests. These positive actions can result in significant financial benefits. A recent Gallup poll shows that, on average, only 32 percent of employees feel engaged in their work. A full 50 percent are disengaged, while 17 percent are "actively disengaged" (either working against the company for which they are employed or are actually).
